I took Mack to the doctors a couple of weeks ago for his 2 months check up. I had been dreading going because he was going to get his first immunization shots and I knew I was going to cry while he got them. Well he did fine. He hardly cried. I was more of a mess then he was. He weighed 12 lbs 10 oz. He is in the 90% for his weight. He is getting so big I can't believe it.
So I have been seeing all these things about immunizations causing autism in kids. I know they need them to stay healthy and I plan on getting all the immunizations for Mack but I just don't know what to think about these reports?

I couldn't agree more! It's scary to hear things like that and wonder if certain kids were just more susceptible to something or what made it different for those children. There's always something to worry about with being a mom, huh?
I am all about immunizations. Look up what some of these things they're immunized for can do to them and autism doesn't seem so bad. I'm not sure the problem is even related. There are so many reports going both ways. There is a reason a lot of these diseases aren't around much anymore...immunizations.
I was so worried about the same thing!! I still worry about it and everytime we need shots, I read more stuff. I talked to my pediatrician about it and he said that there is really no substantial evidence that vaccines cause autism. In fact, Utah has the highest incidence of autism and the lowest number of kids getting immunized. What I did was I waited until Parker was 2 years old to get his MMR...because that is the one that causes the most controversy. I also did not give him the flu shot because it contains thermiserol (sp?) which is a preservative with mercury in it. The flu shot is the only vaccine that they still use thermiserol in nowadays. So, hopefully that makes you feel a little better. I can't agree with you more though, it's like the worse of two evils. I wish they could just pinpoint exactly what is causeing such a high incidence of it.
I attended countless conferences on Autism (because I taught that population for 2 years) and there is really no conclusive evidence.Like most things, there is support for or against, depending on who you talk to. Immunizations are scary, but like Brittany said, think of what they are helping. I have the same worries, though, everytime I go get the shots. We're due for our 12 month this week. Time flies.
I think Libby already weighs 12 lbs 10 oz. She is so long and big. People keep asking me where her graduation cap and gown is and a guy bowed to me the other day for giving birth to a ten pounder. :)
Oh my heavens, your little baby is a doll!! I haven't seen him in soooo long and boy has he grown. I'm excited to keep updated on your blog. Your family is adorable.
