So I was home alone one after noon which is very rare and happened to turn on the television to Oprah the talk show. I don't watch Oprah and rarely watch TV except for my favorite cooking shows.
Oprah had on her best friend...Gayle I think her name is?? It made me think about one of my best friend Mary! I miss her. She lives far away and I don't get to see her much. I use to see her everyday during our college days.
After college and she got married, then it was once a week maybe. After my mission and her husband's death I saw her almost twice a week. We became very close. We use to meet up for dinner everyday Tuesday nights and then go to Institute. We would go to the Temple also once a week if we could. Her husband introduced me to my husband.
As Oprah was sharing all the road trips they took and memories they shared I couldn't help but remember our road trips in college to Provo late at night going dancing, or our two road trips to Reno, or our fabulous cruise together with some of our other fabulous best friends. Our late night early morning singing Karaoke in our rooms during our college days. Gayle said something that caught my attention. She was asked by someone if it was hard to be Oprah friend. She gets all the attention, money, fame, etc.? Gail said no I love my life, I love myself, I live in Oprah's light not her shadow.
Gayle is free of jealousy, envy, etc. She loves who she is, what she has been alotted in life and her friend brings light to her life.
That is what I have with Mary...she bring light to my life. Although I don't see or talk to her everyday she helps me put things into perspective. Love you girl!
